Why choose concrete?

Concrete is long lasting and low maintenance. Concrete increases the value and performance of the home.

Concrete Slabs: A concrete slab provides a solid foundation for home builds and are very popular in Texas due to the climate. They are relatively quick to build and easy to maintain.
o Cost Efficient- One of the many benefits is that these foundations are generally less expensive to construct than pier and beam foundations. Since wooden members such as floor joists aren’t required, as they are with pier and beam structures, that price is eliminated. In addition, since there is no crawlspace under the slab, utility bills associated with air conditioning and heating are lower.
o Durability- Concrete is a durable material that can last a lifetime. Throughout history, concrete has proven itself to be a most flexible and durable construction material. Also, with the addition of fly ash or ground granulated blast-furnace slag in the mix, the resulting concrete is stronger. o Maintenance- Concrete slabs are low in maintenance when done correctly. They are resilient in extreme weather and flood prone areas and resistant to moisture (mold and mildew) and doesn’t harbor pests (rodents and bugs).
o Environmentally Friendly- Concrete is a natural building material and 100% recyclable. Concrete can easily be broken down and recycled. Recycled concrete is very versatile, and can be used in concrete polished flooring, foundations, industrial flooring, commercial flooring and in retail center flooring.
o Versatility- Concrete is one of the most versatile materials used in buildings. Almost all new homes in Texas use a concrete slab as the foundation of the home. It is highly durable, fire-resistant, can be molded to any shape and has a heat-retaining capacity.

Driveways: A concrete driveway can have a dramatic effect on the first impression, value, and resale potential for a home. Concrete driveways are preferred over other paving materials for a variety of reasons.
o Durability- A key component to the longevity of driveways. Concrete driveways stand up to traffic daily, year after year, often for more than 30 years.
o Maintenance- Concrete does not need to be seal coated every year, making its maintenance practically non-existent.
o Homeowner Satisfaction- Homeowners were surveyed, and of those already owning a concrete driveway, 96% said they would choose concrete again. o Versatility- This is important in today’s day and age. Concrete can be colored, stamped, or stenciled to create a variety of textures and decorative finishes.
o Appearance- A critical component in selecting a driveway paving material, concrete, with its smooth, bright surface, provides an important safety feature by increasing the effectiveness of exterior lighting.
